Mixing Transport Trucks

With the concrete mixers using advanced technology to shorten the mixing time and also to produce more homogenous mixture, more and more advanced mixers are coming in. One such mixer is the Mixing Transport Truck. It is very effective medium of transporting ready-mix concrete to the worksite by using this specially designed truck.

These special concrete transport trucks, or the in–transit mixers, are designed to transport and mix concrete from a plant to the construction site. Their typical construction allows them to be charged with dry materials and water, with the mixing that can take place during transport. There is another method which is commonly used with the mixing transport trucks and in that modern plants load the truck with Ready Mixed concrete. In this process, the components are already mixed, and then are loaded into the truck. The mixing transport truck maintains the material in a liquid state until delivery.

The interior of the drum on a concrete mixing truck is typically fitted with a spiral blade. During mixing the components are mixed in one rotational direction and the concrete is pushed deeper into the drum. Rotating the drum in this one direction while the concrete is being transported to the construction site does the charging process of a mixer. To discharge the mix the drum rotates in the other direction to let the Archimedes screw-type arrangement discharge the concrete out of the drum. The mixed concrete then flows onto chutes to guide the viscous concrete directly to the worksite. There are basically rear discharge and front discharge types of the concrete mixing transport truck.
